Rockwood Farm Cottage is a cosy stay nestled on the wall of the Spitzkop Farmhouse Dam. This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, self-catering cottage offers exclusive access to some of the best mountain biking routes in the country, as well as, hiking in the indigenous forest of the Karkloof Nature Reserve, stunning views, bird watching, unrivalled peace and a short car trip to the adrenalin inspired Karkloof Canopy Tour.

THE COTTAGE

The cottage was converted from the workshop and garage of the original manager’s house for the Hancock family to use while Rockwood Farm House was built. At one point it was nicknamed The Pigsty. Things have improved since then!

LIVING 

This stylish cottage has a wooden veranda boasting superb farm and forest views. There is a well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area kitted with DSTV and an iPod Docking Station. The cottage is complete with a Big Green Egg Cooker.

THE AREA

The Karkloof Nature Reserve is a short drive through the farm for exclusive use by all Rockwood guests. The Reserve boasts one of South Africa’s largest indigenous forests, many dams, waterfalls and weirs with birds, fish and game. The property has over 25km of well maintained hiking, mountain biking and trail running trails.

GOOD TO KNOW 

Kitchen Basics are provided; salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

Charcoal and Firelighters are provided for the Big Green Egg Cooker.

Fenced in Jungle Gym/Trampoline area meters away (for exclusive use by Rockwood Guests).

The property is 20 minutes drive into the town of Howick.

The Farm Cottage is not suitable for children who can’t swim as it is situated on a dam with no fence. Supervision is required.

BOOKING TERMS 

5% cancellation fee if cancelled more than 28 days prior to arrival

25% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 28 days prior to arrival

50% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 14 days prior to arrival

100% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival or no show.

Should cancelled accommodation be resold, cancellation fees shall be refunded less a 10% handling charge
