Rockwood Mountain Cabin Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. The cabin is located on the edge of a natural clearing in the forest. Due to its remote location, this eco-friendly lodge makes use of solar power for lighting and gas for all other requirements. Access 4x4 high clearance only.

A gorgeous typical log style cabin, recently renovated and ready for you.

Bedroom 3 | Twin Beds en-suite bathroom with a bath (downstairs)

LIVING 

The cabin has a large entertainment deck with a Big Green Egg ceramic cooker (charcoal provided). The viewing deck to Karkloof Canopy Tours is a short walk away. Numerous walking trails are accessible from the cabin.

The kitchen has a separate scullery and is well equipped. There is a gas oven and stove for your cooking needs. The kitchen flows onto a round dining room table to enjoy your meals at. The lounge has comfy modular couches and a gas heater to keep you warm.

THE AREA

The Karkloof Nature Reserve is a short drive through the farm for exclusive use by all Rockwood guests. The Reserve boasts one of South Africa’s largest indigenous forests, many dams, waterfalls and weirs with birds, fish and game. The property has over 25km of well maintained hiking, mountain biking and trail running trails.

GOOD TO KNOW 

There is no wifi, intermittent cellphone reception.

Kitchen Basics are provided; salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

Charcoal and Firelighters are provided for the Big Green Egg Cooker.

Indoor board games and outdoor ball games are provided. 

The cabin is serviced daily between 09h00 - 12h00.

The property is 20 minutes drive into the town of Howick.

If you need to pick up some last minute groceries, your best bet is the St Johns Pick n Pay. This is the last shop before reaching the accommodation.

If you do not have a 4X4 arrangements can be made to transfer you to the cabin.

BOOKING TERMS 

5% cancellation fee if cancelled more than 28 days prior to arrival

25% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 28 days prior to arrival

50% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 14 days prior to arrival

100% cancellation fee if cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival or no show.

Should cancelled accommodation be resold, cancellation fees shall be refunded less a 10% handling charge
